Colleague from Nitra joined worldwide community of carnivorous plants enthusiasts

Recently, Dr. Monika Danchenko joined the International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS; https://www.carnivorousplants.org/) and participated in their Annual Photo Contest representing the Plant Science and Biodiversity Centre. All fascinating photographs were displayed online on the multimedia platform https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1SIxpzq9mQ. Monika contributed with original images of the forked-leaved (Drosera binata),Cape (Drosera capensis), and round-leaved (Drosera rotundifolia) sundews, grown in the cultivation room of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

Later, Monika attended the 14th ICPS World Conference in Vienna, enjoyed brilliant lectures on the ecophysiology of carnivorous plants, and acquired a few rare species, extending the existing collection in Nitra. Furthermore, she networked with Dr. Kadeem Gilbert from Michigan State University and Education Director of ICPS Kenny Coogan for future collaboration. Following the conference, Kadeem and Kenny visited the laboratories in Nitra and admired the natural beauty of Slovakia.
