Conference of Young Botanists 2025 in Genoa

PhD students Mgr. Agnieszka Adamska, Mgr. Eliška Krtilová and postdoc Dr. Adam Kantor from
the Institute of Botany PSBC SAS attended the Conference of Young Botanists (CYBO) in
Genoa (5.-7. 2. 2025).
The conference for students and postdoctoral researchers, co-organised by several Italian
organisations, was now organised for the third time. In two lecture halls in the heart of Genoa’s
historic centre, participants had chance to attend almost 90 presentations and discuss posters
categorized into six symposia: 1) systematics, phylogeny, biogeography and evolution, 2)
ecology, 3) biodiversity and global change, 4) structure, physiology and development, 5)
genetics, genomics and bioinformatics and 6) plants, fungi and society. The programme also
included workshops on open science and European funding opportunities. Last day of the
conference was concluded by the city walk with a local guide. Apart from the scientific
committee, which was responsible for evaluating the presentations and posters and provided
important feedback, the event was attended exclusively by students and postdocs, which
allowed for a relaxed atmosphere and space for effective networking.
