Senior scientist in plant systematics and evolution. Co-author of studies on genetic variation, morphological and ecological differences, and distribution ranges of species, aiming to enhance understanding of plant evolutionary mechanisms and processes, improve taxonomic classifications in intricate species complexes, and contributing to biodiversity knowledge and conservation. Primary research interests are taxonomy, phylogenetics, phylogeography, speciation, and polyploid evolution in the genera Alyssum and Odontarrhena (Brassicaceae) in the Mediterranean and mountain ranges of southern Europe. Author of the continuously updated taxonomic treatment of the tribe Alysseae (Brassicaceae) in AlyBase – a database of names, chromosome numbers, and ploidy levels of the tribe Alysseae (http://www.alysseae.sav.sk/). Other research interests include genetic and karyological variability, geographical distribution, ecological preferences, and the ongoing spread of invasive plants in the Carpatho-Pannonian region, mainly Solidago (Asteraceae), and taxonomic revision of the genera Centaurea and Colymbada (Asteraceae) in the Carpatho-Pannonian region for the book series Flóra Slovenska [Flora of Slovakia].
