Olha Lakhneko, a Young Principal Investigator of the Plant Stress Group at the Institute of Plant Genetics and Biotechnology, recently participated in the 2nd Annual Meeting of the RECROP COST Action CA22157, “Climate-Proof Crop Reproduction: From Lab to Farm”, held from 13 to 15 May 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
During the conference, Olha:
- Presented a scientific poster showcasing her recent research on contrasting proteome dynamics in wheat under drought;
- Chaired a scientific session, “Biotechnology, Gene Editing and Systems Biology Approaches to Decipher Crop Resilience”, facilitating discussions among leading researchers in crop biology;
- As a Young Researcher and Innovator Engagement Coordinator of the Action, moderated the Young Scientist Round Table on current opportunities for early-career researchers and interviewed 3 successful inspiring Group Leaders who kindly shared their personal experience, insights, and advice. A wide range of topics was covered, including: The transition from Postdoc to Principal Investigator, building international collaborations and navigating academic career, the importance of inclusive mentorship and developing leadership skills, and balancing research life with personal well-being and mental health.
The RECROP Annual Meeting brought together plant scientists, breeders, and stakeholders across Europe to discuss integrative approaches that can strengthen crop reproductive performance under climate stress. This vibrant platform fosters collaboration toward sustainable and resilient agriculture.
