The opportunity to establish a successful collaboration in plant evolution research

In connection with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the SAS and the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas – CSIC) on 6 March 2023, we welcomed its representatives Dr Francisco Javier Moreno Fuentes, Monica Martin-Lanuz Olmedo and Soraya Olmedillo Maria to our Centre, who the Vice President of the SAS accompanied for External Relations, Zuzana Panczová, M.Sc., PhD and the Vice President of the Second Department of Sciences of the SAS prof. Karol Marhold, D.Sc. At the beginning of the meeting, the Director General of CBRB SAV Jaromír Kučera, PhD, our department and was followed by information about the successful collaboration with the research team of Javier Fuertes Aguilar and Gonzalo Nieto Feliner at the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (CSIC) in previous years, which resulted in many high-quality scientific publications. The Biod-Iberia projects (FP5) and the Synthesis programme have supported the collaboration. Guests had the opportunity to visit the Molecular Systematics Laboratory and the Flow Cytometry Laboratory. They were introduced to the solved problems by Judita Zozomová-Lihová, PhD, and Stanislav Španiel, PhD, accompanied by the Head of the Department of Evolution and Systematics, Iva Hodálová, PhD and curator Tatiana Mihálikova, Ms.C. the guests also visited the premises of the herbarium of vascular plants.


CSIC has been involved in many Horizon 2020 projects and has well-developed international cooperation. That is why it is crucial to participate in the upcoming bilateral call for support of cooperation projects within the framework of the SAV Mobility programme. The call for mobility projects is expected to be launched in early summer 2023.
