The 65th Annual Symposium of the International Plant Science Association (IAVS 2023) took place in Coffs Harbor, New South Wales, Australia, 3-8 September. This year, the main theme of the symposium was “The Future of Vegetation in the 22nd Century”. Against the backdrop of global climate change, IAVS provided an invaluable platform for the botanists worldwide to assess the current state of global vegetation and project its prospects for the 22nd century (https://iavsaustralia2023.com/).
The Institute of Botany at PSBC SAS was represented by speakers who delivered oral presentations:
Mgr. Monika Janišová, PhD. – “Lessons from the Past: Historical Grassland Management in the Carpathian Mountains.”
Mgr. Polina Dayneko, PhD. – “Land-use Patterns in Mountain Grasslands of Maramures and Bukovina Regions (Carpathian Mountains).”
We extend our gratitude to the local organizers and all participants for contributing to such an engaging and enlightening scientific experience!
During the trip, we observed unique ecosystems of northern Australia, including tropical rainforests and dry rain forests, savannas and woodlands, marine ecosystems of the Great Barrier Reef, etc.
